Golding takes handover of 100th new home since April this year

It’s been a busy first quarter of the financial year, 2022-23 for Maidstone based housing association Golding Homes as this week sees them take handover of the 100th new-build home ready for a local family to move in.

Part of the new development at Hermitage Park, Maidstone, the 100th handover is one of seven stunning flats delivered by the housing association’s development partners Croudace and employer’s agent calfordseaden. These handovers mean that, in the last three and a half months, Golding completed 103 new homes for affordable rent for over three hundred local people.

Tom Casey, Director of Development and Sales at Golding said: “We’re delighted to have reached this 100th homes milestone at this early point in the year. We’re really pleased to be helping customers into their new homes and making a positive difference for them and their families.

“This is a major step forward towards completing over 300, quality, sustainable new homes this year.”

Affordable rent homes from Golding help customers like neighbours, Regina and Andrius who recently moved to be closer to family.

The challenges of the recent pandemic and months of lockdown has been difficult for Regina’s physical and mental wellbeing. Her niece has been a great support. Regina said: “My niece has been my lifeline. I couldn’t have got through this time without her, but I also know it’s been hard for her to keep being there for me while trying to get on with her own life. Getting this new home in Maidstone, so close by to her, is a blessing. It’ll make such a difference to my life.

“I love having outside space and I’m looking forward to the lovely fresh air as I enjoy yoga sessions in my little garden that’s just perfect.”

Andrius is also closer to family in his new home. He’s recently found himself homeless and often ‘sofa surfing’ until he secured a room in a hostel where he felt the loss of his independence.

Andrius said: “This new home is like a dream come true, a massive leap for me. I’ve been studying hard over the past few months for a qualification in building safety and will hopefully be taking up an apprenticeship working alongside my brother-in-law in the building sector. My new home is a new beginning. I moved in around my birthday and it’s the best birthday present ever!”
