First public sector contract secured for recently launched Wates FM

Wates FM has secured a new contract to deliver a one-stop maintenance service on behalf of West Midlands Police, becoming the first public sector appointment for the recently launched business.

The new contract comprises the provision of planned preventative maintenance and responsive repairs across mechanical, electrical and water services at the West Midlands Police Headquarters at Lloyd House in Birmingham.

Due to run for two years, with the opportunity to extend for an additional three years, the new contract marks a milestone in the growth of the new facilities management business following its strategic rebrand earlier this year.

Wates FM launched in June, a move that has seen the Wates Group enhance its total facilities management offering with expanded nationwide capabilities tailored to the needs of both the private and public sectors.

Formerly operating as Wates Smartspace FM, Wates FM has also secured a raft of new private sector contracts over the course of the summer, including a major deal to deliver MEP services at the 46-storey 110 Bishopsgate in London.

James Gregg, Managing Director of Wates FM, commented: “We have gathered some real momentum in our business growth strategy since launching Wates FM just three months ago and this is a true marker of the capabilities and expertise we have in our team.

“Above all things we believe in providing bespoke solutions that cater to our clients’ individual needs and we are very proud to have developed a service package for West Midlands Police that will support their vital day-to-day operations.”

Wates FM forms part of Wates Property Services alongside the Group’s Living Space business. The business currently manages over 350 commercial properties, delivering services including statutory compliance, cleaning, security, catering, porterage, front-of-house, help desks and computer-aided facilities management (CAFM), as well as mechanical and electrical and building fabric maintenance through a mix of site based and mobile teams.
