The £1m deal involves installation of new doors, windows, kitchens, bathrooms and roofs across 228 properties in Tower Hamlets, London. The project includes a pilot study, being run Clarion Housing Group, to encourage agility, innovation and quality within SME organisations and will also create 18 new jobs within one of London’s under privileged boroughs.
In addition, DWSS and Clarion have committed to deliver over £10,000 worth of social value as part of the initiative. This will include training and employment opportunities for local residents, educational workshops, local community projects and clear up days.
DW Support Services — which has offices in Thame, Oxfordshire, London, the Isle of Wight and Reading — provides property maintenance, repair and refurbishment services to large-scale property owners, particularly housing associations, councils, universities and NHS trusts. Around 200,000 homes are maintained through the speedy completion of over 40,000 repairs a year.
The company is part of the Fastflow Group, an independent provider of essential services to the utilities and property sectors with over 800 people working on sites throughout the UK.
Having secured the contract through competitive tender, DWSS Managing Director, Conor Bray, commented: “We are delighted to have been selected by such a major housing provider to improve the homes of its residents. Clarion Housing Group owns and manages125,000 properties which provide a home to 360,000 people across 170 local authority areas. Each year Clarion invests significantly in existing stock and, like DWSS, we’re committed to quality.”
DWSS has also picked up a £445,000 contract with Hampshire County Council to carry out decoration work on various schools and educational buildings and a two-year deal — with options to extend for two further years — with Reading University, carrying out reactive and planned maintenance works of up to £10k per scheme, to educational buildings, housing stock and commercial properties.
