The Housing Forum is working with Cambridge City Council to deliver its third Development Partnership Forum of the year at Upper Hall in Cambridge on the 7th September.
This in-person event provides a forum for local authorities, housing providers, housebuilders and development and regeneration partners to come together to discuss the key sector challenges and opportunities, as well as to hear from their peers.
The speaker line up includes Councillor Lewis Herbert, who will be discussing the City Council’s role and strategy in partnerships delivering new sustainable homes and communities, plus future opportunities for councils.
In 2017, the Cambridge Investment Partnership was created to address the city’s housing shortage and affordability crisis, and drive housing growth across a range of tenures, from council and affordable housing, to shared ownership and private sale.
Cambridge City Council and Hill Investment Partnerships established CIP with the aim of starting at least 500 new council houses by March 2022 and reached this target a year ahead of schedule. The partnership is also delivering new commercial and community facilities across the city, as well as public art and more inclusive open spaces.
The partnership is committed to providing apprenticeship and employment opportunities for local people on site, championing sustainability and local supply chains. Working together collaboratively to find a solution to the city’s housing supply and affordability challenges has enabled the City Council and Hill to drive economic growth through the delivery of ambitious housing led regeneration and development programmes.
The Development Partnership Forum will also feature sessions covering Master planning for the Cambridge station area, new developments at Eddington in North West Cambridge and the latest Build to Rent offer.
As part of the day, attendees will be taken on a tour of the flagship Ironworks development at the former Mill Road depot site, not far from Cambridge Train Station. The scheme is providing 236 new studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments and two-, three- and four-bedroom homes, with 118 for private sale and 118 for council rented homes.
