Design in Mental Health Conference and Exhibition

Design in Mental Health Conference and Exhibition

The UK’s leading event focusing on the design, build, refurbishment, management and clinical provision of mental health environments open its doors in Coventry next week.

Taking place at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry on the 21st and 22nd May, the two-day event focuses on the design of mental health facilities and includes a conference, exhibition and awards dinner. Organised by Step Exhibitions with event partner the Design in Mental Health Network, the show is sponsored by the Kingsway Group and features over 50 speakers, with specialist content from architects, NHS professionals and clinicians.

The conference features a varied programme, with sessions covering a range of topics from health and wellbeing, designing for Dementia — looking at the ways virtual reality can be used in design to help improve the lives of people living with Dementia — to estates modernisation. There will also be sessions looking at how design and the use of innovative systems can help achieve positive impacts on patient recovery, patient experience and clinical outcome. Greater Manchester Health & Social Care Partnership will be discussing the partnership’s mental health strategy, whilst P+HS Architects will be talking about modernising mental health in the Vale of York. There will also be opportunities to hear international best practice, for example MAAP Architects will be delivering a session on the ‘Co-design for The Adolescent Extended Treatment Facility’ in Queensland, Australia.

The exhibition provides an opportunity for visitors to engage with key suppliers to find out about the latest methodology, products and technology in the field of mental health building design.
