Dacorum Borough Council received the handover of its first new-build properties of the year in last week.
Bingham Mews is a small development of three two-bedroom council homes for social rent in the rural area of Gaddesden Row. The site is designed to complement the adjacent housing association site, bringing much-needed homes for local residents.
Through these properties, Dacorum Borough Council is seen to be looking to the future, designing modern energy-efficient homes that utilise the latest low carbon technology. These homes are equipped with modern renewable energy heating and electric systems. Central heating is provided through an Air Source Heat Pump system providing domestic hot water, heat to the underfloor heating system and first floor radiators. Each house also has four Photovoltaic Solar Panels fitted to the roof which generate electricity.
The new residents are due to move in this month after being allocated to residents on the housing waiting list.
Cllr Margaret Griffiths, Portfolio Holder for Housing at Dacorum Borough Council said: “It’s fantastic to take handover of these new energy-efficient family homes. Many rural residents are priced out of living in their local areas making it so important that we provide affordable housing options to enable these communities to continue to thrive.”
Dacorum Borough Council is looking to build 350 new homes over the next five years. Find out about the new developments being planned on the council’s website www.dacorum.gov.uk/newhomes
