Tom Boome has joined ClwydAlyn as the landlord’s new Head of Technical, Innovation and Climate.
With a background in carbon reduction and helping organisations achieve net zero, Tom will support ClwydAlyn to explore new technology, build low carbon homes and retrofit existing properties to deliver ClwydAlyn’s environmental strategy.
Tom will also focus on ClwydAlyn’s approach to tackling fuel poverty and reducing bills by delivering more energy-efficient homes.
He joins the housing association, which manages more than 6,000 homes across seven counties in North and Mid Wales, from Ambition North Wales. There Tom managed large-scale construction projects as a Land and Property Project Manager, providing a wealth of experience working with housing, local authorities, and technical design.
Having completed a degree in Architectural Technology at Leeds Metropolitan University, Tom started his career as an architectural assistant where he was able to develop feasibility schemes as well as being involved in the refurbishment, extensions, and new-build developments for Denbighshire County Council.
He will lead ClwydAlyn’s environmental vision in this new senior leadership role, paving the way for the housing association’s low carbon new development programme which will see 2,500 new homes built by 2030.
Tom added: “This is an exciting time to be joining a progressive organisation like ClwydAlyn. They are serious about their dual roles of tackling the climate crisis and supporting those facing fuel poverty.
“There is a lot to do, but as always Wales is leading the way on this issue and I’m looking forward to working with residents and partners to deliver ClwydAlyn’s environmental strategy and find ways to build innovative, low carbon homes for the future.”
