City Telecare Services have been successful in obtaining accreditation with the Telecare Services Association (TSA) following a recent audit, meaning they are recognised as compliant with the TSA Code of Practice in referral, service tailoring, installation, monitoring and response for all Telecare services.
Southampton City Councils’ City Telecare Services offers 24 hour help to over 6,300 city residents (and over 2,700 Portsmouth residents), providing security and peace of mind whilst at home if you fall or feel unwell at the touch of a button via a pendant or wristband, which is connected directly to a local monitoring and responding team that give help when an alarm is raised.
To achieve the accreditation, City Telecare Services had to show evidence that they had achieved various key performance indicators throughout the year, such as answering over 97.5% of alarm calls within 60 seconds and Responding Support Officers arriving at a customers’ property within 45 minutes of their call, resulting in an average response time of 25 minutes being achieved. City Telecare Services are audited on an annual basis and have achieved accreditation since 2008.
TSA are governed by TEC Quality, the nationally recognised representative body for technology enabled care. TEC Quality has been set up to develop and run the Quality Standards Framework, a team of independent auditors, review and certify organisations against these standards.
Councillor Lorna Fielker, Cabinet Member for Adult Care said “City Telecare Services are supporting Southampton residents to stay in their own homes within their own community for longer. It gives them and their families’ peace of mind that in the event of an emergency they will be dealt with quickly and the result of the TSA audit supports that.”
Mr Taylor from Lordshill is delighted by the re-accredited service he receives, he said: “The CAREline service and my falls detector is very important to me. I have seizures which can happen at any time, so with these services I feel like I have someone there with me all of the time! The service is absolutely invaluable to me and my family.”
