To support the safe adoption of drones, the UK drone trade industry association ARPAS-UK has teamed up with a panel of leading specialists to deliver online CPD (Continuing Professional Development) sessions aimed at housing, infrastructure and building professionals.
The series got underway with an introductory session on the 24th February and the initially covers eight topics in March. The CPD can be accessed through visiting https://www.arpas.uk/cpd/.
The online programme is in association with Connected Places Catapult (CPC), who provide impartial ‘innovation as a service’ for public bodies, businesses, and infrastructure providers. It is intended that sessions will extend across the year and become a reference for user groups including surveyors, planners, infrastructure specialists, housing, local government, highways, and inspection amongst many others.
Online delivery is the immediate focus and in person events will follow. The events will be relevant to surveyors, engineers, infrastructure specialists, energy technicians and a wide spectrum of users and stakeholders in multiple industries. There will also be a series of events relevant to management, governance, oversight and financial benefits.
The initial topics incorporate key subject areas including:
- Thermal uses
- Infrastructure Inspection
- Volumetric Analysis, Surveys and accuracy using drones
- Insurance for drones
Details on the events are available here: https://www.arpas.uk/cpd/
Graham Brown, CEO of ARPAS-UK and David Pounder, Systems Engineer at Connected Places Catapult, wrote an article for LABM recently discussing the economic benefits of using drones and why local authorities need to build drones into their asset management programmes.
