Warrington South MP, Andy Carter, visits Weaver Vale Housing Trust’s development of 41 affordable homes to view progress in the transformation of the former derelict social club site at Latchford’s Richmond Street.
The scheme, known as Bowlers View because of its view overlooking the local bowling green, is creating 26 one-bedroom and 15 two-bedroom apartments for affordable rent, due to be completed in March 2022.
All will be fitted with modern kitchen and bathrooms, with fire safety at the heart of design. Each apartment has built in sprinkler systems, smoke and heat detectors, while the main building features automatic opening vents and a modern fire alarm system. There is also driveway provision and electric vehicle charging points to enable customers to transition to electric vehicle usage in the future, as well as a solar PV system to help reduce the impact of rising energy costs.

The scheme is being built by Lane End Group on behalf of, Weaver Vale Housing Trust. Weaver Vale Housing Trust and Lane End are working in partnership through this scheme to deliver numerous initiatives, ensuring the development benefits the local area beyond the housing provision. This includes employing local labour, creating three local apprenticeships with more in the pipeline and delivering career talks at local schools and colleges.
