Affordable Homes Completed and Delivered in Fordingbridge

As part of the expanding partnership between Pennyfarthing Homes and VIVID, the final seven affordable homes at Whitsbury Green were officially handed over to the Housing Association last week.

Pennyfarthing Homes Managing Director, Matt Dukes was delighted to celebrate the final handover of the last of the new homes comprising a mix of one- and two-bedroom properties.   Dukes said:

“It gives me great pleasure to officially handover the last seven of 14 properties in this collaboration with VIVID at Whitsbury Green. These affordable homes – built to modern, energy-efficient standards, in a family-friendly development, are an important part of the vibrant community that we are creating at Whitsbury Green.”

Known as the northern gateway to the New Forest National Park, Fordingbridge, named after its striking medieval bridge, sits on the banks of the River Avon and is a popular, rural town, with schools, a busy high street and a wide range of amenities, including pubs, cafes, a large park and recreation area, independent shops, and even a cinema.

Tristan Samuels, Group Development and New Business Director of VIVID, says: “Our partnership with Pennyfarthing is helping to tackle the housing shortage in the south. Together, we’re creating high-quality homes and inclusive communities, giving as many people as possible the greatest chance of having a place to call home and build bright futures. I’m looking forward to our customers moving in and enjoying their new homes.”

In May last year, Pennyfarthing Homes announced a further partnership with Hampshire-based VIVID Homes Housing Association to construct 106 affordable homes on a seven-acre site close to Whitsbury Green.  The wider development scheme will be known as Forde Valley, which will span several parcels of land in the surrounding area.

Matt Dukes concludes: “This handover marks a key milestone in our partnership with VIVID.  A strong collaboration is essential to the successful delivery of well-designed, much-needed homes for the district. We are proud that this relationship serves as a shining example of how to achieve excellence in our shared efforts.”

The residents at Whitsbury Green can enjoy easy access to the countryside, with scenic footpaths, stunning views, and charming walkways leading safely into the town along the stream that runs into the River Avon. With 140 miles of cycle tracks nearby, residents also have safe off-road routes to explore and experience the beauty of the New Forest.

These interlinking phases of homes that Pennyfarthing Homes is creating in Fordingbridge ensure there are homes for the whole community to enjoy. With expansive outside space on the doorstep, including a trail play area, comprising an obstacle course to promote fitness and outdoor activity for young people, residents will be welcomed into this established community.
