Adra creates more training and qualifications opportunities in north Wales

Adra, leading social and affordable housing provider in north Wales, has created a new pre-employment course specifically tailored to their tenants.

Adra has been working closely with their partners, Busnes@Llandrillo Menai’s Centre for Infrastructure, Skills & Technology and Procure Plus to provide more opportunities for their tenants to upskill and gain new qualifications. The aim is for individuals who are Adra tenants to gain work experience, skills and qualifications to give them an opportunity to get on the employment ladder in maintenance and construction.

Up to 12 people can take advantage of the two courses available in Repairs & Maintenance or General Contracting, free of charge.

Elin Williams, Community and Partnerships Manager at Adra said: “We’re so glad that we’ve been able to work in partnership with Procure Plus and Busnes@LlandrilloMenai to create a course specifically for our tenants.

“It’s fantastic that we’re able to provide another opportunity under Academi Adra, which is our employment and skills programme that we launched in February this year.

“As we grow, we want to create opportunities for our people, starting with our customers. Through Academi Adra, we aim to create work opportunities via our placement schemes and wider trainee, graduate and apprentice programmes, working with our partners and targeting our customers across North Wales who are facing so many challenges to access the job market.”

Gareth Hughes from CIST said: “We’re proud to be part of this partnership, that will provide an opportunity to attract new entrants into the construction industry. Through this course, students will be able to learn and gain the key training and qualifications that employers are looking for.”

Simon O’Donnell from Procure Plus said: “Combining accredited training and work experience with a company like Adra and their contractors —Wynne Construction, GMC, G H James and Williams Homes — is a fantastic opportunity to get a foot in the door in the construction industry. At the end of this two-week course, we hope the participants will be ready to take advantage of the several opportunities that will be coming up in this growing sector over the coming years.”

The contractors taking part in this scheme are Wynne Construction, G H James, GMC a Williams Homes.
