£11million expansion at North Birmingham Academy

The Acivico Group has marked the completion of an £11m expansion of North Birmingham Academy creating additional space for over 300 more students.

The work undertaken includes a full refurbishment of the existing facilities as well as the introduction of a new state-of-the-art sports field and a two-story expansion of the current building.

Overall, the work carried out increased the size of the campus to 2,500sq.m. As well as the added student intake, the expansion will also allow for extra teaching space, which in turn has helped the academy grow into an eight form entry.

The works also include the installation of a new air source heat pump which will reduce the academy’s carbon footprint and create a more sustainable source of energy for years to come.

The project was procured through the Constructing West Midlands Framework and completed alongside the Midlands division of Morgan Sindall. This framework seeks to enhance public and third-sector facilities in the West Midlands area of England.

Marina Robertson, Managing Director at Acivico Group, said: “It is increasingly rewarding to be able to work on projects such as North Birmingham Academy and see first-hand the importance of creating a long-term, sustainable future for vital institutions in the region. The Construction West Framework was designed to offer value for money procurement with high standards of sustainability and social value; this project has delivered on every aspect.”
