Construction work begins on site to create 58 new affordable homes in Salford. Places for People is working collaboratively with Manchester-based property development company Investar Property Group to deliver the scheme.
At first let, all 58 homes on the Melody Gardens scheme will be allocated via the Local Authorities Choice Based Lettings system to residents who are in housing need.
Situated on the corner of Liverpool Street and Weaste Lane, the land was once home to All Souls Roman Catholic Church before its demolition in 2011.
The scheme will comprise 17 one-bedroom and 31 two-bedroom apartments, one two-bedroom bungalow and nine two-storey houses. Of the nine houses proposed, eight will be three-bedroom properties and one four-bedroom. All houses will have a rear private garden, with landscaped areas being created for those living in apartments.
The site will have 41 car parking spaces, five disabled person’s spaces, as well as 10 secure bicycle lockers and a mobility scooter store. Each of the houses and the bungalow will also be equipped with an electric vehicle charging point.
Construction work is being carried out by Salford-based contractor, Watson Homes, and will be completed in two phases, totalling approximately 77 weeks of work.
Phase one will see the delivery of the houses and bungalow, followed by work on the apartment block in phase two.
The project team consists of contractor, Watson Homes; TADW Architects and agents, Savills.
