Stockport-based BTP Architects, in partnership with Calico Homes and contractor Ring Stones, has successfully completed work on the Kinross Street housing development in Burnley’s Hargher Clough area.
The £9.5 million project has delivered 61 high-quality, energy-efficient homes, in an area where there is a significant demand for affordable housing. This project completes the Hargher Clough redevelopment and forms Phase 2 to the previously completed Phase 1 project which consisted of 31 dwellings delivered in 2018.
The development features a mix of one and three-bedroom bungalows and two and three-bedroom houses, all available for affordable rent.
The homes cater to a wide range of residents, including families and older people. 25% of the dwellings were designed to meet the Building Regulations ‘Adaptable Dwelling’ standard Part M4(2).
The scheme has transformed two patches of underutilised land into an attractive new neighbourhood that blends with neighbouring streets.
Built to meet the latest environmental standards, all properties boast EPC A-rated energy efficiency, with solar PV panels, enhanced insulation, and modern heating systems to help reduce energy bills. Sustainability was a key focus, with timber-frame construction ensuring a lower carbon footprint.
Throughout the development, the project team worked closely with local residents to shape the scheme – including enhancing the existing public space for new and existing residents.
