Sustainable and accessible homes in South-West London

London housing provider RHP Group has completed a new housing development in Feltham, providing 28 new apartments for affordable rent. This latest project offers a range of accessible and sustainable living options tailored to meet the diverse needs of the community.

The development is split into two blocks, each with 14 homes, including 12 one-bedroom and 16 two-bedroom units. In response to the need for accessible housing, the site includes three wheelchair-accessible apartments designed for comfort and ease of mobility. Each flat is equipped with either a private balcony or terrace, offering residents convenient outdoor space.

Constructed by Howarth Contractors, the project revitalises a former house and unused courtyard on Staines Road. Demolition began in December 2022, and the site has been transformed into a community-focused block complete with a central car park and a communal garden. Solar photovoltaic (PV) panels installed on the roof help make the development more sustainable, contributing to energy efficiency and reduced costs for residents.

RHP’s Chief Executive, Sarah Thomas, said: “We’re proud to provide these high-quality new homes for the local community. This development addresses a real need for accessible and sustainable housing options in the area. At RHP, we’re committed to creating safe, secure homes that not only meet immediate needs but also support a greener, more inclusive future. I wish all our new residents at Staines Road a warm welcome.”

Cabinet Member for Housing Management and Homelessness, Cllr Sue Sampson, said: “Ensuring our residents have access to safe, affordable, and sustainable housing is at the heart of our work in Hounslow. This new development on Staines Road is a fantastic example of what can be achieved through strong partnerships. These 28 new homes not only address the urgent need for more accessible housing but also provide residents with modern, energy-efficient living spaces that help reduce costs and contribute to a greener future. I’m thrilled to welcome the new residents to their homes and look forward to seeing this community thrive.”
