A new community is emerging in Burton-upon-Trent, with the development of 190 properties by national housebuilder Lovell Homes.
St Aidan’s Garden, part of the wider Branston Locks development, is located less than two miles from Burton town centre located off Shobnall Road. It will include 78 open-market homes available to buy through Lovell, 80 affordable rental homes and 32 for shared ownership through emh group.
Lovell will be offering 15 different house types to suit a range of buyer styles and needs including detached, semi-detached and terrace options ranging from two to four bedrooms. In addition, there will be two blocks of six apartments.
Mark Blake, Regional Sales Manager at Lovell, said: “St Aidan’s Garden promises to be a wonderful new community, nestled just on the outskirts of the historic Burton town centre, offering great access to a thriving hub of activity. There are also great commuter links, particularly via train, to the Midlands’ major cities with Birmingham, Nottingham, Leicester, and Derby all reachable in around an hour or less.
“We have several new house types for this development to broaden the choice for potential buyers and are hoping to release plots for reservation by the end of 2023 with completion of the site predicted for 2025.”
The development makes up part of the Branston Locks regeneration scheme, where more than 2,500 homes will be built across 400 acres, including 23 acres of commercial space.
Mark added: “This is a key regeneration site for East Staffordshire, and for Lovell, this development has been a few years in the making so it is great to see such positive progress. As part of the wider Branston Locks scheme, residents here will benefit from fantastic new schools, huge green spaces and useful amenities, so we expect the homes to be very popular.”
St Aidan’s Garden represents an ongoing partnership between Lovell and emh after several successful projects in the region.

Spearheaded by master developer and landowner Nurton Developments, Branston Locks is a transformation project of former agricultural land. As well as creating more than 3,000 jobs, there will also be a 70-acre hillside park, a new secondary and primary school as well as a village centre with a community provisions, all set in attractive open spaces with accessible roads and cycle routes.
