Notting Hill Genesis, one of the largest housing associations in London and the South East, is digitally future-proofing its housing stock by rolling out gigabit-capable broadband to all of its homes. The connectivity is being supplied by Hyperoptic, the UK’s hyperfast broadband provider.
Hyperoptic offers ‘full’ fibre broadband, which enables average broadband speeds of up to 900Mbps. This is over 12x faster than the UK average. Currently just 18% of British have access to this gold standard of broadband.
As well as offering hyperfast, reliable connectivity, Hyperoptic also offers a range of flexible and affordable packages. Last month it launched ‘Hyperoptic’s Fair Fibre Plan,’ a new affordable tariff that enables people on specific means-tested benefits to get access to discounted rates on its monthly rolling packages. With this plan, the cost of its 50Mbps broadband-only service on a monthly rolling contract is reduced to only £15 a month.
Notting Hill Genesis was created in 2018 from two well-established housing associations. It owns and manages more than 66,000 homes. Its roots reach back to the 1960s when its legacy organisations were established by local people, to provide London families with a secure future. Today Notting Hill Genesis is committed to providing a modern, digitally-enabled housing service with sector-leading resident satisfaction levels.
Hyperoptic has already installed its services into over 7,000 of Notting Hill Genesis’s homes. It has provided a free service for the association’s door entry systems and site offices. Hyperoptic aims to connect the whole of Notting Hill Genesis’s housing portfolio, across all building types.
Mana Sekhon Compliance Delivery Manager, Assets, M&E Team, Notting Hill Genesis commented: “We are very pleased with our partnership to date with Hyperoptic. They are very easy to work with, always following through on delivery plans and maintaining communication at all times. The feedback from residents has been so positive that it just makes perfect sense to extend our relationship across our whole portfolio.”
Liam McAvoy, MD, Business Development, Hyperoptic said: “Access to hyperfast, reliable connectivity has never been so important. It is the heart of the home, connecting people to their communities and supporting new ways of living and working. Housing providers have a really important role to play to Gigabit Britain, which is why developing our relationships with progressive companies like Notting Hill Genesis is a strategic priority for us.”
